It’s our favourite day of the year! (*we didn’t even know this was a day*) It’s officially National Burger Day, so why not celebrate with a tasty burger recipe?
Step One: Firstly, start by wrapping the cream crackers in a tea towel and smash them up until they’re broken into tiny bits. Then tip them into a large bowl.
Step Two: Chop the parsley into fine pieces, including the stalks. Then add the parsley to the large bowl with the mustard and minced beef.
Step Three: Crack the egg into the bowl as well as a good pinch of sea salt and pepper.
Step Four: Time to get your hands in! Scrunch the mix up with your hands so that it is all mixed in well. Then, divide the mix into 6 and pat/mould each piece into a burger shape around 2cm thick.
Step Five: Put each burger onto a plate, drizzle with some oil, cover and place them into the fridge until you need them. This step will also help to firm them up.
To cook the burgers
Step One: Preheat a large frying pan for 4 minutes on a high heat. After 4 minutes, turn the temperature down to a medium heat.
Step Two: Place the burgers in the middle of the pan, then use a spatula to lightly press down on them so that the bottom of the burger is fully touching the bottom of the pan.
Step Three: Cook the burgers for 3 or 4 minutes on each side. You may decide to cook the burgers in batches.
Step Four: Wash a few lettuce leaves and tear the larger ones in half. Slice the tomatoes, peel and slice the red onion. Gherkins are an optional add on which can be sliced lengthways as finely as possible.
Step Five: Place the toppings and the cheese on a platter in the centre of the table and they can be added to the burgers as well as sauces.
Step Six: You could also lightly toast the burger buns and then serve up.
